Have you ever observed, that there are a set of few emoticons you use while chatting?
WhatsApp has in total 3,136 emoticons/pictograms, and yet we barely use 10-15 emoticons on a daily basis. Have you wondered why so? (food for thought)
It may seem similar to our emotional construct.
Many a times we have been on the receiving end or even been the one to say'
" You made me do this/ You made me feel this/ I felt so cause you did that..."
So on and so forth.
So my question is, Are we solely responsible for our own emotions and feelings?
Do we really get influenced due to the person/event/ situation in question?
Physiologically, our emotions are regulated by a particular system in brain known as the Limbic System.
But, our emotions are actually born from our own interpretations.
Our own belief or expectations of a person/situation or event gives rise to our feelings and when it is not in tune or completely opposite from our interpretation or perception of that particular person/situation/event is when we feel helpless about our feelings and emotions.
So technically, yes only and solely we are responsible for WHAT we feel. No one can make us FEEL something we do not wish to feel.
Then how come we get easily pissed off by our boss or angry cause our parents expressed something, or sad cause someone did not feel as we felt?
I think its cause we already imagine an outcome, we already perceive that particular situation to be in a certain manner and when that glass named perception hits the floor and breaks, we get hurt by those very shards of glass. We bleed.
Our very own personal interpretation and perception of what all we experience or face is the real root cause of the statement " i felt so cause you did..." (and not the response of the other person)
So then what is the solution?
Learn to be the boss of your own feelings.
Learn to identify your own perceptions and interpretation of things and you will realize how much of an entire new universe exists in your own head on its own.
Be open to have new and different perceptions that others have.
The best person to start changing is you yourself.
Because believe it or not, only you are responsible for your own feelings... the sooner you understand the better you will be.๐
